Quotes you don't care about:

"Out on the verge
Of the rest of our lives tonight
Top of the world
And we're dressed to the nines tonight
Edge of the earth
And we're touching the sky tonight
Out on the verge of the rest of our lives."

- Verge, Owl City ft. Aloe Blacc

Hello, dA~

It's been a while, eh? Things have just been kinda odd for me lately so I've been kinda iffy on being super chatty or particularly active. My life feels very off kilter for a lot of reasons and in response I've sort of shut down emotionally and creatively. But I'm trying to FORCE myself back into a more positive place, to fake it til I make it. 'Cause sitting around feeling sorry for myself hasn't worked so far.

One thing I do want to talk about is a possible inclusion of watermarks in my drawings. Within the last month or so, I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a Volkner roleplayer. They had taken one of my drawings of Volkner (one of him with Elias), and used it, claiming Elias was a completely different character, someone who they rped with or something.

When I spoke them about it, saying how it wasn't nice to just take art without crediting someone or even asking permission, they got very rude with me and told me I should be flattered that they took my art and made a completely new story for it. And that just because it was on the internet, they could take it, and I shouldn't share things if I don't want people to take them. Then they blocked me when I told them exactly how I felt about that - this attitude disgusts me. That's like saying WELL you went outside so it's okay for me to shoot you. You shouldn't have gone outside if you didn't want to be shot.

I managed to get my drawing taken down with a copyright claim, but this is something that upset me greatly. My ideas have been stolen repeatedly and shamelessly within the last couple of years, drawings as well, and while I can't protect my ideas, I can make SOME steps to make sure that I am credited with my drawings via watermarks. I really don't want to put watermarks on my drawings, but my optimistic hope people won't steal from me has been dwindled to nothing. So my art from now on will more than likely have watermarks on them.

This was a very hurtful experience, and while I can't stop it completely, at least I might be able to curb it. Maybe this wasn't deserving of a journal, but I felt like I needed to write it, and maybe anyone who follows me and thinks this sort of thing is alright will realize it's not. It's not okay to just blatantly take stuff from people. Being inspired is one thing, but when you are just copying almost entirely or just taking the art all together and slapping it wherever you fancy without crediting that person, you are not helping anyone. You are hurting the person who put the time and effort into making that piece, all the years they spent trying to improve only to receive absolutely no credit for it. It might not bother everyone, but it bothers me.

Blah, sorry for my mini-rant. I'm just so worn out these days, little things swell up in size...

I should sleep. I hardly sleep normally these days. Goodnight!

I'm glad that your art was taken down from that rper. I know we were talking about this not too long ago, and I wasn't sure what the outcome was.
Watermarks seems like a great idea. I've even been adding a little signature to things. It's hard to put art out there only for it to be taken by idiots or ignorant people.
So, I think you should definitely do it. I know you'll find away to put it in your art and have it still look snazzy. ♥
